This checklist assumes you have already decided a wall-mounted format makes sense for your install base. If you are still choosing between rack, stacked, and wall formats, start with the project site: available wall space, floor loading, and whether the battery lives indoors or outdoors. That decision dictates the format; what follows helps you qualify a specific wall-mounted product line before you commit.


1. Chemistry: confirm LiFePO4 — and ask for test conditions

The safest lithium-ion chemistry for a battery that lives inside a family home is lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4). It is what every Woolii Storage Wall battery uses. The reason is thermal stability: LiFePO4's iron-phosphate cathode holds its structure past 200°C, while a typical NMC cathode can begin decomposing below 180°C. That margin matters when the battery is mounted on a garage wall.

What to verify:

  • The datasheet explicitly states LiFePO4 cell chemistry — not just "lithium" or "lithium-ion"
  • The cycle life number comes with test conditions: temperature, depth of discharge, and end-of-life capacity threshold. A number like "6,000 cycles" without conditions is marketing, not engineering
  • Ask: "6,000 cycles at what DoD and what temperature?"

A credible manufacturer publishes this. The Woolii Storage Wall series specifies 6,000 cycles at 80% DoD, 25°C. That is a standard test condition: if a competitor claims 10,000 cycles but does not state the conditions, treat the higher number with caution.

2. Capacity range: does it cover your typical projects?

A single-capacity product limits which customer you can serve. A series with 3-4 capacities lets you match the battery to the household without overselling or undersizing.

What to verify:

  • Do the capacities cover the 5 kWh to 15 kWh range most European homes need for daily self-consumption?
  • Can you combine units for larger loads, or are you capped at the largest single unit?
  • Is the voltage consistent across capacities (all 51.2V nominal except the compact 48V unit), so you can mix and match?

3. Physical installation: the wall is not optional

A wall-mounted battery is exactly that — it hangs on a wall. The installer needs to know what wall types it works with, how much clearance it needs, and whether an outdoor variant exists for garages, carports, or external utility rooms.

What to verify:

  • Mounting pattern and bracket: Is the bracket included? What wall types does it support — masonry, timber stud, drywall with anchors?
  • Weight: Can two people lift and hang it, or do you need mechanical assistance?
  • Clearance: What are the minimum side, top, and bottom clearances for ventilation and service access? If the spec sheet does not state them, ask.
  • Ingress protection: Indoor units are typically IP20. If the battery is going into an unheated garage, carport, or sheltered outdoor wall, you need IP65. The SEN-051200 IP65 variant exists for exactly this case — same 10.24 kWh capacity, but enclosed for dust-tight and water-jet-resistant operation.

Do not assume the enclosure rating from a product photo. Ask for the IP rating on the datasheet and confirm whether outdoor installation requires additional shelter per local electrical code.

4. Inverter compatibility: CAN and RS485 are table stakes — verified pairings are the real check

A battery that communicates over CAN bus and RS485 can theoretically connect to most hybrid inverters. In practice, the inverter needs the right protocol profile for that specific battery BMS.

What to verify:

  • The battery supports CAN and RS485 communication (the two dominant protocols for residential storage)
  • The manufacturer publishes a compatibility list naming specific inverter models they have tested with — not just a generic "works with CAN inverters"
  • If your preferred inverter brand (Deye, Growatt, Victron, SMA, Solis) is not on the list, ask for a test protocol or a reference install where that pairing has been commissioned

5. Parallel expansion: how many units, and what does it take?

Most households start with one battery unit. A year later, they add an EV, a heat pump, or an extension — suddenly the single unit is undersized. The product line should support parallel expansion without replacing the original unit.

What to verify:

  • Maximum parallel count: can you stack 3, 6, or 16 units on the same bus?
  • Does paralleling require additional hardware — a combiner box, a communication hub, or just another DC cable?
  • Can you parallel different capacities, or must all units be identical?

6. Documentation: what you receive before the container leaves

This is where the difference between a product photo and a product you can install becomes clear. Before committing to a first order, ask for the documentation pack that will arrive with the shipment — or ideally, before it ships.

What to verify:

  • Datasheet: includes electrical specs, mechanical drawings, environmental limits, and test conditions for cycle life
  • Installation manual: in the language your technicians read — English at minimum; German for DACH region installs
  • Certification documents: ask which certificates are available as PDF copies. Not every certification applies to every SKU. A manufacturer that claims "full CE / UL / IEC certification" without specifying which models hold which certificates is glossing over a real compliance detail
  • Warranty terms: duration, throughput limit (if any), and the claims process — who pays return shipping, what counts as a valid claim, and what the response time is

7. Logistics: DG Class 9 is not a footnote

Lithium batteries are dangerous goods. A wall-mounted home battery is Class 9 — miscellaneous dangerous goods — under both IMDG (sea) and IATA (air) regulations. This affects shipping cost, documentation, and lead time.

What to verify:

  • UN38.3 test summary: the mandatory transport safety test. Confirm the manufacturer can provide the UN38.3 test report for the specific model you are ordering.
  • MSDS: material safety data sheet — required by freight forwarders for DG bookings.
  • DG packaging: confirm the battery ships in UN-certified dangerous goods packaging, not generic cartons.
  • Air vs sea: air freight for large lithium batteries is severely restricted. From 2026, air-freighted lithium batteries must be at ≤30% state of charge. For volume orders, sea freight in a DG container is the practical path — factor in 30-45 days transit plus customs clearance.
  • Sample units: if you want a single evaluation unit before a volume order, it ships via DG express — typically $300–800 freight, 5–10 days door-to-door depending on destination.

A manufacturer who cannot quickly produce a UN38.3 report and an MSDS for the model you are ordering is not ready for export.

Before the first purchase order, confirm these seven items with your supplier:

  • LiFePO4 chemistry confirmed, with published test conditions for cycle life
  • Capacity range covers the households you serve (2.5–15 kWh)
  • Mounting bracket, weight, clearance, and IP rating are documented and fit your install sites
  • Inverter compatibility list names specific models you install — not just "CAN bus"
  • Parallel expansion supported without replacing the first unit
  • Documentation pack available: datasheet, installation manual, certification documents, warranty terms
  • Logistics path confirmed: UN38.3, MSDS, DG packaging, and a realistic sea-freight lead time
